Simon Stanislawski lives and works as an artist and designer in Berlin and Hamburg. Even though he would prefer living as a tour guide and shepherd in the dolomites- he’s happy with how things are atm. In his work the focus mostly lies on three things: fun, fun and fun. He’s passionate about bridging traditional furniture design with innovative, eco-conscious practices and the sculptural freedom and political aspects of art. His design expertise lies in playing with sheet materials like metal and wood, but his recent fascination with foam has led him to explore unconventional avenues.
Simon is co founder of the Hamburg based design trio SMS-PM and the Berlin based collective und.studio.
He finished his Master of Fine Arts at the HfbK in Hamburg in 2023, his training as a systemic coach at the IFW in Munich in the same year, and his Bachelor of Arts at the UdK in Berlin in 2018.
In 2023 his work was shown in the solo show Open Foam Session in Studio 45, Hamburg, on Highlights at the Residenz in Munich, and during Fashion Week in Paris in a Showroom for the fashion label Kasia Kucharska. In 2022 in form of Interior and Furniture Design for Società delle Apis 4rooms project together with his friends from und.studio on Kastellorizo. From 2020 — 2022 he worked as a set and exhibition Designer for DMSUBM with Jonas Maria Droste shown in Museum angewandte Kunst, Frankfurt a.M., HAU II, Berlin, and belvedere 21, Vienna. In 2019 he led a one year workshop together with Till Ronacher for Schlesische 27, Verein zur Förderung interkultureller Jugendarbeit e.V. in Berlin, designing, planing and building a Tiny House with a group of young refugees from Syria. 2017 — 2020 he did the exhibition design for Contemporary& with Jonas Maria Droste, Till Ronacher at IFA Galerie, Akademie der Künste and Haus der Kulturen der Welt, all in Berlin.
